for the same reason that young men (over 18) have relationships with older women. There is no yuck factor (except for some of the onlookers and fingerpointers). I'd be thinking more like you have that mothering attitude so a child (any person who has been born to you or your friends) in your mind is always a child. It's more of a problem to the viewer than the experiencers. Other people have been able to change and understand that people are just people, and that there is such a thing as maturing and I don't mean aging.. Relationships arent all about sex or just about sex.

I think they want to feel young again, but often times the gal leaves for someone closer to her age. I’m sure it’s an ego booster to squire a younger woman on your arm. Sure, in rare situations it may work, but an older man can’t keep up with a younger woman for too long, no matter how physically fit he is, and he surely can’t change the hands of time.
Now, to all who are jumping up and down about this answer, relax, I said it works in rare situations, or where monetary play comes into the picture. My opinion is solely one opinion out of many.

Men?….Women have relationships with younger men all the time, not that it’s right that is just the way it is and it is not like it just started yesterday.

Older men younger women.
Older women younger men.
Older men younger men
Older women younger women

There is a lot more of yuck going around, that I won’t mention.

Because older men believe dating a younger woman will impress their friends, and other older men. They see this guy with a young woman and figure, wow, must be he can still get it on, lucky SOB.

in response to Everard G and others who have written here, us so called "old boilers" have a lot going for us, for example:

emotional maturity; a well developed sense of personal style; classiness; self belief; a developed intellect; love; wisdom; compassion; good dress sense; kindness, well honed cooking skills and well developed companionship skills.

ofcourse we don’t have the same youthful beauty or the same amount of over-exuberant sexual energy.

it comes down to what do you want from a relationship; a true and loving companion or a sex-bunny?

grayure, i’m glad you are grounded in your sensibilities and respect the younger generation for what they are – a different generation to you – to be nurtured; not preyed upon simply for sexual gratification.

I know I am suppose to answer the question, in defense of overweight people, but for the Wiz, evidently you never had sex with a nine month pregnant woman. And yes it can be done! Do I have any witnesses? Big belly, baby kicking and all! And trust me the other person isn’t always slim jim themsleves, so it can be done.

The yuck factor would come from the parents, mine was my grandmother and for my daughter it was me. Sorry I can’t tell you all that she told me, but she was right.

I like you, didn’t like the thought of her in a sexual relationship with an older man before she was 22 and out of college. She is 30 now and dates an older man, 10 years her senior and I respect it and can accept it more because she is older and has experienced life, marriage, and sex therefore she not "green" or "wet behind the ears" so to speak, and can handle all that being in a relationship like this brings. Age differences with men and young women over 30 I figure is her choice.

I hate to say it but a man that would date a young woman close to his own daughter’s, age especially in the age group 21-31, I have a problem with that. Too close to comfort if you know what I mean, sorry I had to put that out there. I’ve seen it too many times. This is the real world we live in. Your 50, your daughter is 25 and your girlfriend is 26? Hmmm?
