ex-relationship question… Men’s advice would be great?

Ok here is the deal.. I am 21 years old and my ex is 23. We were together a year and broke up about a month ago. He says he broke up with me cuz he thought our relationship was moving toward something serious even tho i told him a million times that im extrememly afraid of commitment and don’t plan on ever getting married (my parents have been married 4 times). Anywho.. so we broke up and he still wants to try to talk all the time and even asks me to "hook up" with him. He makes up stories to try to make me jealous and then apologizes days later. For example: he will be at home but he will tell me he is out. Or he even told me he had sex with a woman but then told me he made it up to see how i would react. What is he trying to do?

I really care about him a lot but i still dont get why he broke up with me and why he insists we keep in contact even tho i have told him numerous times that i don’t think we should talk. What should i do? Stop talking to him and maybe he will realize what he lost? Or just forget about it?
the main question is.. why is he trying to make me jealous when he is the one who broke up with ME? doesnt make sense to me

He’s trying to make you jealous, but the way he is doing it is horrible. He’s basically lying to you. Do you still care about him even when he’s making lies to you. I think he wants a serious relationship and wants one with you.
If you want to be around someone who lies to you, then stay with him. Otherwise just tell him that you don’t like it that you are lying to him. Don’t talk to him for a while and see how much he wants you back. He will hopefully rethink his actions.
